Due to the short stats on the hike, I decided to do a quick climb up Jumpingpound Mountain before my maid-of-honour arrived into Calgary that day for some hikes we were going to do together. Going by Naismith's formula of approximately 1 hour per 5 km, plus an additional hour for 600 metres of elevation gain, I was estimating to ascend in about an hour and a half - barring any errors in route finding as it was my first time summiting. The trail was very well maintained and easy to follow though, with only one fork-in-the-road where I had to pull out my GPS map, and I summited quicker than anticipated. With the 4:15 a.m. start I had, I had about another half hour till sunrise and I was chilly, so I took shelter behind a large bush that was at the summit. Since the route is simple and I did not have many pictures of the route, I will just post some nice pictures of the summit, sunrise, and the bountiful wildflowers. Great warmup for the rest of the day!

Camping out at Horsethief Canyon. Dark clouds threaten being rained out.
The summit register - probably super full given the traffic on this hike. Except during early mornings, in which case I saw no one. To the east, views of the ridge make it seem like an endless trek. To the west, the mountain ranges became very pronounced when the sun rose. On the ground, many wildflowers made for great photos.
